Heze is a prefecture-level city in southwest Shandong Province, bordering the provinces of Jiangsu, Henan, and Anhui. Heze is known as the "Hometown of Peonies" in China, with over 400 years of peony cultivation history. It is currently the world's largest peony planting base, research base, export base, and ornamental base.

It is home to the world's largest peony garden, the Caoxian Peony Garden, the Caoxian Academy of Painting and Calligraphy, Thousand Buddha Lake scenic area, and other attractions.
